What is it?
This certified premier cabin-class aircraft satellite telephone system developed by Icarus Instruments puts global telephone communications in your aircraft’s cabin using cordless handsets. Designed to elegantly fit into the refined passenger cabins in any turbine and turbo-prop aircraft, Sky Connect EXECUTIVE provides up to four slim, lightweight, cordless handsets, per Iridium phone line, which permit passengers to move about freely while making and receiving standard phone calls. EXECUTIVE can be configured to add Iridium phone service in the cockpit for use by the pilots. Sky Connect EXECUTIVE was granted its FAA STC approval in January 2003 and its British CAA approval in July 2003.

Why do you need it?
Cordless phones allow passengers to move freely throughout the cabin and to place calls from any seat. While parked on the ramp, these phones can be used up to 100 meters away, enabling passengers and crew to conveniently use the Iridium service on the ground. Incoming calls will ring on each handset’s speaker. Up to four handsets may be used simultaneously to allow conferencing and call transfer capabilities. A wired handset can be located in the galley or cockpit for crew use and a circuit can be wired directly into the pilots’ audio system for use with their headsets. Dial-up data calls and direct Internet calls can also be placed using a laptop computer with e-mail being the primary application.
